Arizona is one of the more affordable states for cremation. A direct cremation costs about $1,430 on average, and average prices across the Phoenix area and Tucson stay within about $100 of each other. All-inclusive packages start from $950 in the Phoenix area and $1,180 in Tucson. Under the FTC Funeral Rule, every funeral home must give you an itemized price list when you ask. See Cremation Costs in Arizona for prices by city.
Arizona requires 24 hours to pass after a death before a cremation, and every next of kin at the same level, such as all adult children, must sign the authorization. A certified death certificate costs $20. Water cremation is legal in Arizona, although we know of no providers offering it yet. Many counties run indigent programs for families who cannot pay. Our Arizona Funeral Guide walks you through each step.
